Let’s chat about relationships. People don’t give money to people they don’t trust. So it’s up to you to prove your trustworthiness.

Since you’ve been collecting contacts, it would behoove you to setup an email newsletter, or a call and check list from your clients.

If they heard from you once a month or once a week, chances are good that you’ll get a simple chance to touch base with them, suggest some products or services, and give them some FREE advice!

Yes. People like advice. People like free.

If you take some time to write or produce some free advice-based content – something that adds value to your customer’s lives – you’ll find yourself building that relationship. Then – when they need you – they know where to go. When their friend needs you – you’ll be the LAST PERSON IN YOUR FIELD they communicated with – which means you are first in their hearts and minds. That’s a win.

When a customer or a potential customer comes into contact with you for the first time – one of two things happens.

A) They start a relationship with you.
B) They walk away and forget you.

We will talk about building that relationship – but before we get into that – let’s talk about COLLECTING CONTACTS.

If you find a way to collect the contact data of your potential customer from your advertising, then you are creating an avenue to stay in their lives.

Here are some ideas:

1. Coupons and giveaways – offer a coupon/rebate/free gift – and make sure that the coupon is valid if they enter their email address.
2. Contests – give something away for free. To enter, they’ve got to give you a name, phone number and email address. DO NOT THROW AWAY ALL OF THOSE SLIPS OF PAPER.
3. Collect info from your invoices/etc.
